Movies: Review: Just Like Heaven

Great date movie - nice light fare for the start of the fall season. An original premise with a nice mix of comedy and romance. My wife and I both really liked it.

Bottom line: Take your significant other and get one of those seats for two.

Games: Revolution Controller Revealed

Wow, this really has the potential to be Nintendo's saving grace or a disaster worse than the Atari Jaguar. The controller basically looks like a TV remote (it's one-handed), and you really just use the one big A button, and the B button is underneath, like a trigger. Direction is controlled by moving the whole controller itself - there are sensors that detect motion on all axes as well as tilt. I'm not sure if this will be a hit, but I know I can't wait to try it out.

Movies: Review: Red Eye

I really liked this one - suspenseful, original - and Rachel McAdams was a great leading lady. We were rooting for her when she was fighting the bad guy, and she really went nuts on him instead of running away all the time, which was refreshing. Cillian Murphy was just as creepy and chilling as he was in Batman Begins.

Bottom line: Go see it.

Movies: Review: Deuce Bigalow, European Gigolo

Pretty funny, but it's gonna be downright offensive to pretty much anyone born before the "Something About Mary" generation. Good thing my standards for humor are pretty low :)

Bottom line: If you liked the first, go see it, but be prepared for gross-out humor that really pushes the envelope.

DVD: The Wedding Date

Eh, it was ok. Cute story I guess, but predictable as most date movies are. The wife liked it.

Bottom line: Rent it if there's nothing else, but leave your manhood at the door.

The Web: FEMA Uses "Technology" to Help Katrina Victims

The government loves "technology" - that's that stuff from Microsoft, right? Who wouldn't use IE to browse the web anyway? Just a few poor people who can't afford to pay $99 for Windows (or evacuate themselves from a destroyed city) - they don't matter anyway. Ok, good, so it'll be fine if we require IE for people to register for aid.

Typical.

Charity: Help Diabetes Patients Affected by Katrina

Paul has brought to my attention the desperate need for funds and diabetic supplies for victims of hurricane Katrina. The gulf coast has the highest percentage of people with diabetes in the nation, and many are sick or dying due to lack of supplies and treatment. If you think you might be able to help, please go to www.dlife.com for more info.

Movie Trivia: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

For anyone seeking a modern scientific answer, here is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow (and the capital of Assyria). (Thanks Jim)
