DVD: Review: Alone in the Dark
Horrible, just horrible. It's my fault however, for allowing my wife to listen to her friends when it comes to movie picks. This film, as I found out all too late, is an adaptation of a video game starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid. Everything about this movie was random - random love scenes, random effects for the sake of effects and random shoot-out scenes, all with seemingly no point at all. The dialogue must have been simply painful for the actors:
"Everything I've been looking for my whole life is behind this door."
"Some doors were meant to stay closed."
For those who thought Tara Reid couldn't act, they now have proof. Apparently she can't run either, even with a 10-foot demon chasing after her - it looks more like she's on her morning jog.
Let's put it this way: I can't wait for that memory-erasing technology from Total Recall to come out.
Bottom line: Avoid at all costs. To benefit others, go to the video store and hide all their copies of this movie behind Gigli, where they'll never be found.
